Based on the first movement of my saxophone quartet Polar Vortex, Snowfall depicts the mysticism and serenity of falling snow. The piece alternates between two contrasting sections. The first section directly represents snow flurries through swelling woodwind tremolos, while the second introduces more stability and features a slow and lyrical melodic line. These two sections work together to portray a peaceful and sentimental scene.
