Instrumentation: Brass Quintet

Program Note:
This fast and fun work for brass quintet imitates several different elements of rock and pop music, including melody, harmony, and form. Improvisatory solos are featured in the trombone and trumpet parts, with the optional addition of hooking up their instruments to a guitar amp through a practice mute (as seen in Maniacal 4’s arrangement of Carry on Wayward Son). This piece features some disjunct, unexpected rhythmic material and ends with a radio-style fade out, or at least an attempt at mimicking this style of ending in live performances.
