A short orchestra piece representing Asylum Lake, a nature preserve in Kalamazoo, MI. This slow and ominous work contains a dramatic shape that’s reinforced through orchestrational and dynamic diversity. The main melody transforms throughout the piece to create a variety of different textural, motivic, and harmonic components. All of this material works together to resemble the color and power of Asylum Lake.
