You Do You – Perusal Score Video

New perusal score video!

An older piece, You Do You was written and performed in my last couple years of undergrad at WMU. This particular recording is of Tyler Cornwall, MiQuan Cosey, Jasmine Joubran, Keegan Nordby, and Shannon Rouston, was recorded by Zach Hummel, and features improvisatory solos on eTrombone and eTrumpet (in which we hook up practice mutes to a guitar amp). Enjoy!

2019 SCI Region VI Conference

I feel so honored to have had my thesis piece Olympian Suite featured at this year’s Society of Composers, Inc. Region VI Conference! Thank you to the Texas A&M-Commerce Faculty Brass Quintet for the fantastic performance and Dr. David Horace Davies for organizing this event.

I also got to (finally) meet the incredible Sarah Roberts and Elena Bogaczova Daughtery, who I found out gave a repeat of my Concertino for Bari Sax on Thursday at UT-Tyler!

Scorch and Pitch Black – Premiere Performances

I’m eternally grateful to the Royal Oak Middle School Bands for premiering both my pieces Scorch and Pitch Black last night at their All City Band Concert!! A huge thank you to Kyrstin Jensen, Tim Foreman, and Keith Kohring for organizing this opportunity, and thank you to the students of the 6th and 7th grade bands for their hard work learning these pieces!

Concertino for Baritone Saxophone – Premiere Performance

I can’t begin to express my gratitude to Taylor Huitema for premiering my Concertino for Bari Sax yesterday! This piece was my largest project to date, at about 18 minutes long and with 33 saxophonists as part of the consortium.

It was such a pleasure collaborating with Taylor throughout this process. The piece has been over a year in the making and Taylor was constantly on call to give me feedback, record passages, and answer all my silly questions about how to write for the instrument.

And Taylor’s performance yesterday was absolutely superb! His musicality and versatility were on full display throughout the entire piece. I never knew my music could sound so good!

Thanks for everything, Taylor!! ‘Til next time!
